Any update on timing of TAP codeshare?
I'm flying LIS-MAD in mid-September, and hoping to have as an EQM segment. According to OnePass, only CO-code TAP flights will get EQM. TAP-code gets non-EQM miles.
The kind OnePass staff indicated an early September target start for the relationship. Any one have additional insight into when the codeshare starts? Also, if you have any experience with TAP and their lounges, observations appreciated. |
If you're flying LIS-MAD (as opposed to EWR-LIS-MAD), I would be very, very surprised that you would be able to ticket this flight using CO flight numbers. AFAIK, US carriers can put their code on intra-European flights only to the extent these flights connect with flights to and from the US. Thus, I think you're out of luck.
(In any event, given that CO flies nonstop EWR-MAD in codeshare with Air Europa, I would surprised if LIS-MAD is one of the segments that CO codeshares on at all.) |
As it turns out, the LIS-MAD is a connection onto my same day MAD-EWR flight on CO. So just as CO has it's code on KL flights, so could it codeshare (pending approvals) on TP flights.
Air Europa would have been nice, but does not service LIS-MAD. |
I worked in Lisbon a couple of years ago. My Portuguese collegues had a joke that TAP stood for "Take Another Plane". I never flew TAP myself, but I never heard a Portuguese say a positive thing about the airline. All of my collegues would either fly to London and catch BA to the US, or fly to Paris and catch AF to the US (For some reason, they never really wanted to take the CO flight from LIS - I don't know why).
