AMEX Reward Exchange Rate?

Hello all~
I ran a query to search but did not find recent answer. What is the current exchange rate of AMEX reward points to Continental OnePass Miles? I have roughly 46000 MRP and want to convert them.
Thanks in advance for your replies...Scolli01

I'm glad you got your answer quickly, but the answer to this should have been readily available in the MR program guide on the Amex website.

I agree. I called AMEX and their explanation is that we can call anytime to ask the "current" conversion rate. The only time you will see the actual exchange rate via the web is when you elect to transfer. Of course, you can close the browser window and abort the transfer process altogether. I think this is a shame because you have to jump through five hoops first. But AMEX stands by this instead of posting a constant list because their exchange rates fluctuate. So says Lucy Melindez, Customer Service Repr. AMEX.

The rate does fluctuate. Sometimes they have a 1:1.25 conversion rate!

I,for one, would like to thank you for your post. A previous reply was just rude. Don't feel like you need to justify your posts, as seems to be the case more and more in these forums. This forum is for an exchange of information that is ALL published somewhere else. By your asking your question, not only did you and other readers get the answer, but in one reply we learned that on occassion there are promotional conversion rates. This, I did not previously know. Now I know to look out for these and maximize my miles, which is why we're here.

just another question... is there a charge for being participating in Membership Rewards?? I have a SkyMiles AMex card, so i can still earn member points? and then convert to an airline later on?

I agree. I enjoy perusing this and other forums for interesting info. I have saved money already using Thrifty codes that were posted a while back. I understand that some feel the need to berate others. SO BE IT. I just appreciate more "current" info than something that My Friend http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gifijgordon http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif was referring to from 3 1/2 years ago... Facetiously Speaking of Course...

xyzzy:

Thanks for the info.

I paid 90USD for my Gold Membership Fee. That's the whole reason I want to transfer out my points...my fee comes up again in August.

i found out the hard way that part of the reason that AMEX hides the conversion rate is that their two new cards:

rewards and "preferred" rewards. pay at different levels. I got a call on my old "gold" card asking if I wanted to migrate to a rewards card. The agent didn't tell me that these miles are worth 1/2 the rate.

it took an hour on the phone and opening a new account to get them to credit my old miles back at the old 1:1 rate.

so: I'd check your own account on the website and make sure you're getting 1:1.
