Switching FF number
 

I found this topic in the NW forum but couldn't find it in this forum. It was said there and I recall reading elsewhere that CO reps were downgrading CO elites if they sought to change credit for the flight to another program. Can anyone share recent experiences on this?

Agents are supposed to rescind an Elite upgrade if the FF number used to support the upgrade is removed from the record. The enforcement of this rule is spotty right now, but that will likely change as DL comes into the fold.

Actually, you lose your seat automatically, AFAIK.

But there is a workaround: change the # after you get to your final destination. It can still be done. And if the first agent refuses, just keep asking.

I think Sean told us that the FF data is sent when the flight is closed. That would make it a special request of Onepass to delete the credit in order to seek credit on another airline. And you still have boarding passes with the Onepass number. And my experience in changing numbers by segments has had spotty success.

Did you mean that Delta is a leading enforcer of this policy to downgrade? And why is it a policy anyway?

This is an abuse of the system. The upgrades are given as you are an elite on the airline. If you choose to use another FF number, you will not be eligible for the upgrade. This is actualy a good policy.

Well, status is given for past flying and as an enticement for future flying. How can crediting a particular flight to another program, for future status, be abuse?
