OnePass Member Advisory!!

I tried logging into my account and got this message before I could access my account. Wonder why this all of a sudden:

Review OnePass Member Advisory

Please review the OnePass Member Advisory below. To continue on to your desired page, click Continue.

Program Changes

Continental Airlines and all OnePass partners reserve the right to change any aspect of the OnePass program at any time with 60 days notice to active members. This right includes, but is not limited to, changes in partner affiliation, rules for earning mileage credit and mileage redemption levels. However, rules for use of travel rewards, cities served, flight schedules, limited seating or space availability, restricted travel dates and specific features of promotional offers are subject to change with or without notice at the discretion of Continental Airlines or the OnePass partner. Continental Airlines is not responsible for unilateral actions taken by OnePass partners.

Continental Airlines reserves the right to discontinue the OnePass program with six months notice to members. This means that, regardless of your level of participation in the program, your right to accumulate mileage and claim rewards will be terminated six months after we give you notice.

Other rules and restrictions apply to the program and are detailed throughout this Web site.

Personal Identification Number (PIN)

Your PIN is unique to your account and is designed to protect your account from unauthorized use. Continental Airlines will not be responsible for any lost, stolen or otherwise disclosed PINs, nor shall it re-credit any mileage withdrawn from your account if anyone seeking mileage redemption provides your PIN. Accordingly, your PIN should be guarded and not provided to anyone other than a Continental Airlines representative.

Other rules and restrictions apply to the program and are detailed throughout this Web site.

I just logged into my account and did not have the message that you referenced.

I do find this troubling though - If true, it seems to be that they would have a good (CYA) reason for doing this.

I also tried to log on just now and did not get the notice.

Had someone gotten into your account without your knowledge? Hilton had some problems last month and maybe CO had the same recently and are just not telling anyone?

By chance are you subscribing to a service that consolidates your bank statements and loyalty reward balances all into one online statement? I know that one of these companies approached the financial institution that I work for, and I declined to investigate it further as it would have required us to ask our customers for their PINs. I do believe that the airlines and hotels don't like that. It's possible that they feel that this may have been done on your account, and may be a way to disclose to you that they're not responsible for fraudulent use of your account.

Just a thought...

Could it be that those who used that Award Search script and put their OnePass # and pin number into the search form are the ones getting the "reminder" page?

I'd gladly buy an extra seat....if I got status miles for it.

no.... the message came up about 3 weeks ago... the first time you log in, since the time they put it up...you get that message...it's just a cya and shows up only once.

PrivatePilot May 1, 2003 10:17 pm

Yeah, it just came up that once... I guess I haven't logged into my account in a while. But it was worrysome that they reminded you of this all of a sudden. That's why I was curious if others had seen it too....looking at that above link, it seems that others did a while ago.

Interesting...I received it when I logged into my wifes (silver) account but not mine (gold)

I got the same message about a moth ago. I just assumed the worst and tried to use my miles-- and that turned out to be fruitless, too

After reading that I did the same for my wife's account, and the message did appear.

THE FOLLOWING COULD PROVIDE THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION:

IF CO BAILS, THEN IT MIGHT BE THAT THOSE RJ FLIGHTS WILL NO LONGER APPEAR IN CO'S INVENTORY; THEREFORE, NO FF MILES EARNED BECAUSE OF THE DEPARTURE OF ONE OF, ALTHOUGH OF A PARTNER (?) AIRLINE OR A CAPTIVE AIRLINE.

I AM NOT SAYING THAT THIS IS THE REASON FOR THE MESSAGE, BUT THIS COULD CONCEIVABLY PROVIDE THE EXPLANATION FOR SAME.
