continental.com errors in SAFARI (mac)
 

Hi -anyone using Safari for their browser? Anyone able to ue Safari at continental.com without getting error pages? I have not ben able to... looks like some non-compliant scripting or code... 99% of the sites I visit are just fine. Why does continental.com have to re-invent the wheel here?

No, but I use Opera, and it works fine.

Is there a setting you can change in Safari (sorry not familiar with it) where you can choose to identify as a certain browser? For example, in Opera you can select to Identify as MSIE or Mozilla (different versions of each.)

I do use SAFARI, and for those not familiar with it, it is the new Apple web Browser.

Yes, I get error pages in Continental.com using SAFARI, and as much as I can be a critic of CO, this one is not their fault.

First of all, SAFARI is a beta product, not a final version yet, and when you install it it gives you a list of warnings that you have to agree before installing (perhaps you din't read them).

Second of all, yes, SAFARI still can't handle many scripts and ASP (active server pages) based web sites, and Continental.com is not the only one with a problem.

So my suggestion is don't use SAFARI as your main web browser. I have no problems using Netscape on my Mac.

You must not have understood the tone of my initial post... of course I know it's beta -- but it's a public beta, and Apple is looking for help in making Safari the best browser possible -- I wasn't criticizing Safari - I was looking for confirmation that it wasn't just me. I was also commenting on the fact that continental.com was one of few sites that are so complicated, it breaks Safari. There are many asp sites that work just fine... and with the new public beta, many of the issues from last week are gone. I'm relatively satified with Safari, now that it has tabbed browsing and autofill - I also had to adjust how I work a bit, since it is not simply a clone of IE... in many ways it blows IE away... it's rendering speed is significantly faster than IE or Opera or Chimera... You should give public beta 2 a try - but keep your preferred browser around for sites that break it, such as continental.com

I just downloaded Safari Beta 2 and continue to have problems with Continental's web content. I have submitted a bug to Apple.
