Priority Seating on Delta
Just got off the phone with Delta and was told that there was no such thing as priority seating for Continental Elite members. This was after 45 minutes on hold while they tried to figure out why they couldn't move me up. I called twice, and got the same answer. Last time, when I spoke with a supervisor, she said "no priority seating. You have to ask at the gate."
Is this accurate? Since no one knew about this, is it possible as a CO elite to use their Medallion telephone numbers? |
Delta reserves seats in the front of coach for Medallion members; and they allow skyteam elites from all the partner airlines to join in the priority boarding in zones 2 and 3.
If you have a card that will allow you to get into the Delta Crown Room, talk to one of the people at the reception desk. In the main they are quite helpful and will do their best to accomodate you. The "special member services" number I have is 800-325-1551. There is a recording which prompts you to enter your "10 digit sky miles account number and pin", but there is a bypass to this. Hope this helps. |

So someone please explain to me why I WOULD WANT to fly Delta? What a shame, used to be one of the best airlines around...
What benefit does CO get from joining SkyTeam? I currently see none and I see no reason to try and fly Triangle Airlines...no privileges in the Crown Room, no EUAs, what good are they? |

I avoid flying DL like the plague, but I can offer some advise for next time. Skyteam Elite + members are suppose to get access to priority seating on partner flights...so the information from the DL agent was wrong. I have had to argue with them on this issue, but after escalating, eventually you will find an agent who actually heard of Skyteam and knows how to get you access to the priority seats.

I am advoating to Merriam-Webster that they change the definition of disgust to the following: "disgust - noun. , 1. marked aversion aroused by something highly distasteful. 2. Delta Air Lines." They arent listening to me though... -Vincent |
Delta sucks big time.
I don't know why you'd want to fly in their ratty planes anyways. Skyteam is worthless for CO, in fact, I'd say it cheapens CO a bit. CO is the best airline in the alliance, Air France is the only other one that provides real 'value' by way of their true F product, although even that is becoming increasingly rare. Is it really necessary to be so euro-heavy (KL/AF/AZ/OK)? I'm looking forward to CO getting a partner in China to provide connecting service to their PEK service, but they don't need a skyteam to do it, just partnerships. the NW/CO partnership is one of the tightest in existence and its great for both airlines. Skyteam is a half-baked alliance where nobody knows who gets what benefits and further, most of them could care less. |

A Jungle Jet is like all first class though! :p -Vincent |
About 2 months ago I had a ORD-ATL on Delta. My original flight was over 3 hours late but I only found out once I was at the airport. 2 Earlier flight were available, and I tried to go standby for those since I figure my Silver Elite would help me a bit. I went to the GA and ask to be put on standy list and to see if any upgrade was available, I was told very rudely that CO elite do not have that kind of priviliege on Delta and that I will not be upgraded and I will be put on the standy list but had no chance to get on the flight because I had no status.
Instead of arguing witht the GA, I called the ONe pass desk, talk to a very unknowledgable agent that was not really sure what services and benefits I would get on Delta but I should call Delta sky miles desk.So I called and I was transfered 3 times but finally talked to someone that was nice and she told me that Continental One pass member only get miles with Delta and no other benefits, but she will try to get me on top of the standby list. She was not able to do that and I also was not able to get on the next flight so I end up taking my original flight that arrived ATL way past 1am. I did learn my lesson, I will only flight Delta when I have no other choice, I rather flight AA or UA out of ORD if I am not able to get a CO flight. |
