Chicago PC security concern

Two weeks ago went into Chicago Ohare Continental Airlines President Club. Wonderful staff, good drinks and real knives. What? Yes, metal knives. I asked front desk why the were allowed to have metal knives in lounge. She stated, TSA said it was ok. Guarantee you this, if I walked through security with a metal knife on my person, I'd be wishin I hadn't. Oh, the lounge is AFTER the Xray/metal detector/searching area. It is in the "secure" area of the airport. Guess TSA trusts the members of PC to leave the knives in the lounge. Havent seen metal knives in any other lounge for long time.

Check out this document for an explanation. Round-bladed, butter, or plastic knives are permitted past security. I've seen them on airplanes recently as well (I think on NW).

Fortunately, the TSA has finally gotten a clue in some respects. Metal butter knives are not a security risk. I appreciate your concern for the safety of air travel, but it is offbase in this case.

That said, I prefer plastic knives, because they're generally sharper and more effective when cutting food! Much like metal butter knives, (in most cases) they couldn't be effectively used as a weapon unless altered in some way.

Almost anything can be used as a weapon in some way. Are we going to start requiring passengers to fly nude with absolutely no objects in their possession?
