Advise Needed re: Upgrade

Situation: My parents (no status)are going to Hawaii on senior coupons which are booked in T class. The booklet contains 4 coupons which must all be used for a r/t. The booklet cost about $600 each.

I would love to give them a one way upgrade for the way home so that they can get some sleep. So far, I haven't been very successfull. They tell me I can't use miles on a T fare even though they probably paid more than they could have for the tickets (think $500 fare from EWR). I looked into UPREV, which they can qualify for, but only 2 hours before departure for the princely sum of $450 each. They also have some sort of a program that I can pay $300 PLUS 17,500 miles each to get on a waitlist (the $300 in non-refundable).

Does anyone have any other ideas? Should I keep calling? Give up?

Thanks

Mary

Only H, K, Y are allowed for milages upgrade because CO operates BusinessFirst service on this route.

Your best bet is UPREV. Check www.itn.com to see the availability of F seats. I would not recommend spend $300.00 plus miles because you might lose $300.00 without upgrade.

It seems EWR - HNL F is very hard to get based on the posts here. I do know LAX- HNL is relatively easy to get. You might want to try EWR- LAX- NHL.

The $300 is only charged *if/when* the upgrade clears. The miles are deducted from your account at the time the request is made but they can be redeposited if the upgrade does not clear.

Well really to be honest, their BEST chance is to non-rev.

Do you know anyone who works at CO to give you a buddy pass?

If not have one of your parents take a part-time job at a ticket counter http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Good luck...I strongly suggest that you DONT play HOKEY and instead try UPREV.

Thanks for the advise. I don't know anyone that works for CO http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif.

I guess it's the UPREV or nothing...
