MPM?

I've been reading a few posts lately that mention maximum permitted mileage. Is this a new CO rule that I have somehow missed? I can't find any details using a search.

No, it is a pretty universal feature. Most fares have a maximum permitted mileage, viz. your travel between A and B must not exceed the MPM. However, unless you are on an unrestricted ticket, routing rules and maximum number of segments will often limit the routing options available to you and exclude some theoretically possible routes that would remain within the MPM.

So if I travel A to B via C,D,and E, I might not get credited for the actual mileage A-C-D-E-B?

MPM has nothing to do with FF mileage. Its a fare rule used when determining valid routings for ticketing.
