Drunk CO pilot removed from cockpit

Dont know the whole story, but CNN just reported that a pilot of CO1086 was forcefully removed from the cockpit with the suspicion of 'DUI' today. Sad. If this is true, I hope they make a VERY painful example of this individual.

I wonder if they gave everybody on board a coupon booklet for free drinks? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

How long before we have a gun battle between a drunk pilot and some easily excitable, couldn't pass the psych exam for the local PD Air Marshall. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

Wonder if Gordo will emulate this kind of good management? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

CO Pilot Tests Positive for Alcohol

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum...ML/005138.html

Like the America West pilots who tested positve for alcohol in Florida, it appears that it was security personnel (in this case an air marshal) who noticed the problem:

Continental pilot tests positive for alcohol

HOUSTON (AP) — A Continental Airlines pilot who was pulled from a flight after an altercation with a federal air marshal tested positive for alcohol, the Federal Aviation Administration said Wednesday.

The marshal notified the airline following the confrontation Tuesday.

Worst part of this is that the flight was traveling to Orlando. Probably a few children on this flight visiting Disney.
Totally horrendous a professional pilot would risk peoples lives pulling a stunt like this.

Agreed. Would somehow have been less sad if the flight was going to LGA, and was full of business traveller?

I find this pilot's behavior totally unacceptable and unprofessional.

If he did test positive for alcohol, he should be FIRED IMMEDIATELY.

How dare he risk those people's lives - unreal. What arrogance.

Just heard (10/17 3 a.m. LAX time) that CO is now stating the pilot was drunk and got into an altercation with air marshall on board the plane.

Does anyone know if he has been fired (or at least suspended) yet?
