How I got comped. to HP Platinum

I received a comped. HP Platinum Status using this very simple process.

1. Applied for a HP Flight Fund account at
www.flightfund.com. Received an 11 digit
Flight Fund account number.

2. I then faxed HP Flight Fund at
1-480-693-8023 in care of Ms. Nancy
Richard. Enclosed in the fax was a
copy of my CO Platinum Elite Card,
a photo ID. and my new HP Flight Fund
account number.

3. Also faxed was a short note on why I was
requesting comp. status to HP Platinum
Elite.

I faxed this info to HP Flight Fund at 1900hrs Friday Oct.11. Checking my new HP
Flight Fund Account over the internet on Sat.
Oct.12th at noon, my account showed I was a Platinum member but no mileage in my account.

I later learned that HP will comp. any airlines elite members silver/silver gold/gold platinum/platinum for a six month trial. Then your account will be reviewed by HP after approx. six months.

I hope I receive a FC upgrade on a HP flight
I have next week PHX to MSP.

How is the service on HP in First Class??

You could have just proved you had a pulse to be comped on HP

Service on HP FC -

Trail Mix instead of Peanuts

12 oz Plastic cups instead of the little ones

Very limited leg room

Lots of 737-200's with micro overheaads (god help you if you are randomly selected, which they are ever vigilent about)

I have never flown farther than PHX = IAH, I understand on longer flights they do serve food

Agreed.

That is correct. Just after Sept. 11, long flights on HP only offered FC 2 bags opf trail mix..... but lately their meal service has returned-- and it's pretty good.

They've even used menus now-- something I didn't see pre-Sept. 11. I can't remember the meal from my last HP flight (late Aug, before the CO divorse), but I remember being pretty impressed compared to my many NW and CO flights in F.

Hmm... beyond that, FC gives free headphones for the movie/music. Otherwise, kinda typical F service.

Good luck!!

HP's first class is like any other domestic FC -- better than coach but not worth what they charge for it. In other words, it's great when you get complimentary UGs.

I think the leg room complaint is valid (and hopefully, they'll consider doing something about that when they are profitable again), but just go for the bulkhead if possible. Service and drink selection compares favorably with CO and NW. I haven't flown and HP long hauls recently, so I'll defer to others on that.

I recently flew 1st class on HP on 2 long-haul flights; one was EWR-LAS, the other was PHX-EWR.

I'm usually very critical of the food and service I receive, but I must say that this was the **BEST** meal service and flight attendant service I've received in a long time. The only thing that wasn't absolutely perfect was the seat, but in terms of what the airlines offer as a domestic 1st class seat, it was comparable.

The food was wonderful --had a delicious multi-course breakfast on my outbound and a delightful dinner on my way back. Unlike what you'd see on other domestic first class segments, the flight attendants were extraordinarily attentive and frequently were up/about in the cabin doing whatever possible to make the ride even more pleasurable.

As an example, when I boarded in PHX for the return flight, I had a bad headache and probably had a grimace of a headache sufferer on my face. One of the flight attendants saw that I was uncomfortable and came over and asked if he could do anything to make me more comfortable. I said I had a nasty headache and he ran to his personal backpack, grabbed his bottle of Advil, and promptly offered me two geltabs and a glass of ice water. A small gesture that goes a long way...

I had heard rumors that HP meal service went down the tubes (if not completely gone) post-9/11...so I was leary what I'd be getting on my flights. A visit to the HO website assured me that meal service was back & fine, and my travels with HP confirmed that.

These flights were right before the CO/HP split ...and I did the FF-at-the-gate switch that allowed me to get HP Platinum upgrades a few days before departure...while earning CO FF miles in-flight. (HP comped me Platinum status from my CO Platinum status a few months prior to the break-up.)

I also flew HP on several short-haul flights in 1st --like SNA-PHX, LAS-PHX ...and service there was limited to a bag of snack mix and a drink, but what else would you expect on a flight of less than an hour?

I called HP today. Both of my flight this weekend PHX to MSP upgraded to FC. Now hoping to get a four hour upgrade for my nephew traveling with me.

Ugly, just be careful not to brag too much about your comp to Platinum on your flight this weekend, there just might be an elite or two who earned their status "butt in seat"

It might diminish your pleasure if a drink were to be "accidently" spilled in your lap. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
