What the heck happened to "Export to Outlook?"
I used to use the "Export to Outlook" feature in Manage Reservations all the time - suddenly, within the last week, it's disappeared!! What the heck happened to it??
Cutting and pasting is driving me crazy.... |
I noticed that too!!
I don't know why that feature isn't offered anymore.
|
it's been enhanced :D
|
It's still there for me.
Just exported a res a bit ago. |
it used to happen immediately.
Now i have to wait awhile before I am allowed to export. maybe a programming glitch. |
Perhaps there is some unknown MS royatly they had to pay and no longer want to? LOL

I've had issues with this function several times over the past year. IMHO, most likely cause: changes are made to master page stored/maintained in CO "web" department. when changes are made, then master is uploaded to web server. this is what we see. the master copy contains error on this functionality. when complaints are received, tech goes to actual web page and changes code, and doesn't go back to master copy and change it there. so that's why it breaks every time the page is updated.

There is some kind of "save to ...." button I have to hit first. My reservations don't show up in the Current Reservaions list right away unless I go and add them. I can't change the name or export to outlook until I do.
All my current reservations have the export to outlook option. FWIW DLM |
Notwithstanding this little glitch, this thread reminded me that CO.com is probably one of the better airline web sites out there. All the little things - flight paging, faxing the boarding pass (great when you're at a hotel without a printer to hook to your laptop!), easy-to-use search, etc.
My sister recently flew FLL-LGA on US to spend the weekend in Manhattan and 1) US does not offer a flight status paging service. I actually had to call in to find out if the flight was on time. Ugh. 2) Online check-in was a mess. 2 pax on the PNR, only her friend was successfully checked in, my sister got an error message. Since I had tried to move them both to the exit row, only her friend was actually assigned that seat, and numerous calls to the US web support and general reservations numbers were a waste of time -- plus they kept telling me that their systems showed both pax in the original seats, even though I had a printed boarding pass for the exit row for her friend! Of course at the airport, they were NOT together, but fortunately the exit row seats were still available and I could switch my sister to the open seat next to the one her friend was already in. What a nightmare. I'll never fly US myself! Sorry for the detailed rant, but sometimes CO does in fact do it right. |
That is an awesome tool, even if you need to take a few additional steps to use it. I don't know of another website offering an export, usually this involves third party software.

Only complaint with the export
Perhaps this has changed as I haven't used this feature in over a year.
It used to export your whole itinerary as an "appointment" spanning the start and end flights. Ex: depart Mon 9am CO1234, return Fri arrive 5pm CO4567. It would export as one appointment that spanned the entire week. Or is there any way to change this? And dont even get me started on if you work in different timezones than where your flight originates and adjust your time! ARRRGGGHH! |

Not perfect, no, but definitely better than copying, pasting special, blah blah blah. Now I have "Export to Outlook" on some itineraries, but not others. Oh well. At least I don't live in MSP or DTW and have to deal with NWA's site... yuck. |
