CLE-Flyer: "bully" for you.
|
Here's a report from this morning... I was scheduled on the 6:25am CLE-IAH flight. When I checked ITN at midnight it was A4 F0, when I checked at 3:00am they moved it to A4 F4, at this point I decided to wait it out and see if the EUA was going to run as advertised. NOPE... No EUA and when I arrived at the airport at 5:15am F was full.
So in my expierience the EUA did not run at 3 hrs. I should have called and got the upgrade manually, but I wanted to play this out and see what would happen. Result No upgrade and a comfy seat in Coach. |

RW, I have been upgraded on both of my flights since "version 3.0" was introduced, but on neither one did I get an EUA e-mail notification. I do not think they are e-mailing them at all at 3.0. So, one can not presume EUA did not run at 3.0 just because no e-mail was received and one was not upgraded. Perhaps you just did not "make the cut" this time, after all there were only 4 seats available.

Well my flight pattern today suggests that EUA is not running at 3.0 hours prior to flight. I fly regularly on the 6AM MSY-IAH. This is a VERY short flight (<1 hour)and normally clear an upgrade with no problem, I never bother to get to the airport early since it is already a ridiculously early hour to begin with, and 1st class seating is usually not a problem, especially for a platinum. EUA had not cleared me as of 10 the night before departure, I trusted that the system would work and everything would work out just fine. Well I guess I was wrong. Several people who I know to Plats and Silvers were seated in FC. When they called FC the "regulars" out of MSY boarded (a mix of Plats, Golds and Silvers). They then called elites and me a PLAT was the only one who went up. I think some golds and silvers definitly won the race to the upgrade. I really didn't mind since coach was fairly empty and I was in the bulkhead, but I still think there is a glitch in the upgrade system that makes it a free for all for who ever gets to the airport first if they hold back the seats for airport control

I wouldn't be surprised if they are still working out some kinks in the program. Maybe one of these days, it'll be 100 percent.

prncess674, I concur, based on my flight today, that EUA may not be running at 3 hours before fkights. At 3.5 hours before flight, went from A2 D2 F0 to A2 D2 F2. It stayed F2 well after the three hour mark and seats were upgraded at the airport.

motnot, by the time they "work the kinks out of the system" they'll have dreamed up some new and exciting enhancement for our continued flying pleasure. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

Well, on my flight this week (I fly every week), EUA did not appear to run at 3.0 hours since ITN read F6 at (apologies in advance to those of you who frown upon my sleeping habits :P ) 5:40 AM (1 hour 40 minutes prior to my 7:20 AM flight) and I did not receive an EUA e-mail nor a FC seat change in my itinerary either on the CO e-ticket website or pda.continental.com. Since I am a mere Gold, if EUA ran, the Plats should have taken all the seats, or the Plats, Golds (me included) and Silvers should have taken at least more than 2 F dumped seats from the 8 FC seats showing the night before (but not yet dumped to F). Before take off, it was back to F0, of course.
I am so curious as to why CO has apparently reverted back to this unfortunate situation. |
I had a connecting flight today... was EUA'd for the first leg, but not the second. Prior to boarding I checked ITN and it showed A3 F0 on a 735. Agents in the P-Club told me that EUA was going to run at 3.0 hrs, so I shouldn't really worry.
After boarding, I called into the Elite line to inquire about the "new procedure." They told me how it was all fixed and got rid of the free-for-all. Needless to say, upon arriving for Flight #2 I did not get the upgrade, FC was checked-in full. When I asked the gate agent about the process he said that they just gave up the last FC seat "about 5 minutes ago." Not very pleased http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif PS Irrespective of what has been said before, I am beginning to think there is definately a correlation between upgrade % and fares paid. I was practically 99% for upgrade last year as a Gold. This year I am hit-or-miss as a Plat, but I am travelling on some dirt cheap flights, i.e. $225 Q/T no-sat-stay, ~700 - 1,900 miles o/w. |
