"Extra bonus miles"

This morning when ckecking my online statement I noticed that CO had gone back and given me extra bonus miles. They were noted as "Deposit Miles Adjustment", and were all dated from January of 2001. I took
26 flights in January of 2001, and it would appear that I've been given extra miles for each flight. And it would appear that the bonus is @ 50% of the actual mileage.

Just curious to know if anyone else has received this?

agwosdof Mar 8, 2002 8:35 am

Yep, I got them, too. Same date range. ~5000 miles posted.

SemiElite Mar 8, 2002 9:02 am

Ditto! And I've got no idea what they're from...but I'll take them! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

let's not advertise this too much in case there are lurkers lurking.

i don't know what participants in this forum are supposed to add that would create value except for: "yeah, i got 'em too," or "yup, i got mine," or "no, none here," right?

I noticed that I received the "deposited miles" also but mine were from flights flown in June and July of 2001.

SemiElite: i guess i could say you are one to talk but i don't leave mean-spirited replies. i was being serious.

you guys are so convinced that there are CO (Continental Airlines) lurkers keeping track of all of our wishes. i am not certain either way, there certainly could be lurkers.

if that's the case, then a post like this alerting them to unrecognized bonus miles posting isn't very helpful for us non-Lurkers (i.e., Continental Airlines).

if this was a post that would tip off lurkers while also providing the rest of us useful info. than that would be cool. but, there really isn't anything we can add other than tipping off supposed lurkers, right?

and, just another mean-spirited immature comment in this forum (by SemiElite). so shocking.

FCTSTY, I think the response you got was due to your second line:

Recently, you have had a habit of criticizing threads that you perceive as being pointless. I initially read your first post in this thread as another criticism rather than a serious response.

happymob: i guess i was criticizing and, for that, i apologize.

my point is that alerting Continental Airlines lurkers that their system is (possibly erroneously) posting bonus miles is not good for us non-Continental Airlines folks.

now, if this post alerted CO about a mistake but also gave the flyertalk members important info. as well, that would be helpful to all parties involved.

but, this thread really doesn't do that. the only response could be "yes i got the mysterious miles" or "no, i didn't get the mysterious miles."

look at the first two replies from agwosdof and SemiElite. i rest my case.

this thread only helps one party, CO. so, sorry if i offended, but i hope my point is well taken.

now, sorry for the interruption. let the typical bashing resume. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

some people care about miles mysteriously posting to their account.

Likewise, I'm sure that there are plenty of people who don't.

We don't hear from them fifty times a day. They just choose to ignore the thread.

Apparently you can't do the same.

Smile.

jetsetter777: obviously missing my point.

aislesonly Mar 9, 2002 3:23 pm

shhhhhhhhhhh.

I hope we don't need to start posting in Morse Code again...

I appreciate my neighbor across the river's post, but I think EVERYONE on this board is way too paranoid.

Uh-oh, they're watching me, they counting Doc's smiley faces (6,546,783), and we're all going on DOuble Secret Probation for being good customers.

Again, no ill will here towards anyone, but I just had to chime in.

All posting will now need to go through a metal detector before actually posting to this site. This is for your own safety.

I always get this way during a layover where I wasn't sure we were actually going to find the ground...

i completely agree. every so often i read veiled references to Lurkers in this Forum. considering the time it takes for Continental Airlines (CO) to reply to my letters or emails (and i am platinum), i can't imagine they plunk too much in the way of resources (i.e., $$ for paying people) to spy on this site.

jetsetter777 Mar 9, 2002 6:36 pm

Free marketing research. That's free.

Whether they actually listen to it, that's another story. But you can rest assured there are CO people reading this forum.
