My message to CO
From current status report at continental.com
2001 Elite Status: Platinum 2002 Elite Mileage Balance: 0 2002 Elite Segments: 0 Date Of Last Flight: 11/29/2001 2002 Elite balance on competitor: 25340 Can anyone beat this? :-) |
It all depends on your travel habits....domestically CO is still the best...I beg to differ on them Int'lly though.I am 19 for 19 on my upgrades so far this year. I don't spend $$ on competitiors domestically because I don't feel like sitting in coach more than I would on CO.

...looks like it would make a nice T-shirt to wear to the Freddie Awards (over your shirt and tie of course)...

The only good thing compared to other airlines is that they will not leave the gate with an empty FC as long as there are Elites in coach. The bean counters have not figured out how to make elites pay for this privilege as yet. |
I'm getting pretty fed up with CO, but their getting some of my business.
CO-12,000 on 13 segs AA-18500 on 28 I like sitting in First on CO, but AA treats you better in many customer service areas. VIP-OW rules, Gordon get a clue. |
I have yet to see/feel this effect. A little planning will enable you to avoid the above scenario. As I recall...some people on FT have been complaining about this for as long as I've been on here (6/2000)....but most upgrade %%%% listed have been in the 90"s if not 100%.... this seems to contradict your figures.

IM4Travel, how can planning help you avoid CO holding back FC seats? P.S. Put the cookie down! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Make sure you book flights that have F available ...ie: ITN.net

I'm patiently waiting for an EUA for flights that are currently A9 F0 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Thankfully. as more people personally experience the false EUA promises (What good is an automatic upgrade 5 or 3 days out if F seats are not released till day of flight - if at all), less people here on FT try to claim that CO is terriffic regardless of what they do.
It's finally now a case of trying to figure out why some people actually still pretend to see clothes on the naked emperor. |
I agree, I do look to ensure the best chance of an EUA working at the five day window.
In my case Friday, a rebook has me at A3 F0 and it was A6 F0 last night. getting nervous, I just hope the gate u/g comes thru. Originally posted by IM4Travel: Make sure you book flights that have F available ...ie: ITN.net |
Last week I mailed a letter to CO recounting my story of the upgrade problem where I (Plat) sat in the back while at least 3 silvers sat in the front on the only trip I've flown on CO this year. You can bet that I included the fact that I've purchased 40,000 miles (my travel through march) on airlines other than CO. I also said I would happily come back once they fixed the loophole. I can live with Hokey (though I don't like it and made sure they know it).

Until i find a viable alternative....I will not be switching carriers. I fly out of a CO hub (EWR) and switching carriers would only ensure me giving up most NON-STOP flights. I would have to connect almost every week. This involves more time travelling that I am not willing to give up.I already travel EVERY week and am not looking to shorten my time at home any more than it already is.
Of course, any fool can see that CO's Int'l policies are for the birds and even the domestic polices are now in question. I guess that my objectives may be different than others who don't travel as much....but when you're on the road constantly....you look for ways to maximize your time at home. CO provides me with the most non-stops in F class at the best times. My main destinations are MEM,TPA,DTW,SJC,LAS,IAH,DFW,ATL,SEA,PHX and CLE. Some of these I use NW such as MEM, DTW....EUA works fine for me there also. |
