I sometimes leave the secured area via that tunnel. I've never cleared security there, but I do not believe the low ceiling will allow them to put a MMW machine in there.

While it is convenient and generally not busy, be aware that it is not always open, either. I have passed by it (going the other way) when it has been closed.

It's frequently closed these days, and C is terrible. I really wish they'd keep that garage security checkpoint open.

I was there this morning (I came from C where the lines were terrible) at about 5:45. It took me 45 minutes to clear with only one line working and the line behind me stretched back beyond the corner. Easily an hour.

Interesting. I guess the secret is out.

I don't generally try to clear security there myself as they have less capability to open additional screening lanes at crunch time the way the regular checkpoints at C and E do.

Let me repeat: At IAH Terminal E, the inbound int'l passengers that need to be rescreened use a totally different checkpoint than the IAH-originating passengers, so it doesn't matter how many inbound int'l passengers there are if you are using the normal E checkpoint.

Then again, as a frequent Int'l passenger I will tell you that due to the inability for UA/CO to staff the Premier Access line at the "connecting" checkpoint, I find it a lot faster to just walk outside and use the E checkpoint's Premier Access line...

It sucks because they have the whole Premier Access setup in the Int'l checkpoint area, but the idiots manning the lines don't let you use it.

I and two friends will be flying out of Houston around 11am on a Friday and will be arriving on a nearby (tbd) hotel shuttle. Where will the shuttle drop us off and what is my best bet for a quick security line? I have status, my friends do not.

I would probably start with E and if the lines are very long, go down two levels to the subway to C or B. When I get into the shuttle, you can see how many terminals they are stopping at and you can look to see how long the lines are. E and B are my favs. And I'm unsure of trying to bring anyone without status into your line.

I've never had any trouble with my non-status wife accompanying me through the Elite security line at IAH Terminal E. If they ask, just indicate that you're traveling together and it shouldn't be an issue (I would hope).

I would not think a spouse our kids would be an issue, two associates might be different, but I would try as well.

I'll try for sure.

What are IAH's peak security line times?

As for 'B', I've seen some horrendous queues in there as well, haven't worked out day/time to avoid yet.

I've been at B trying for one of the early morning bank of flights and then line was horrible. Then something hapenned and they blew the fog horn and we didn't move at all for 25 min

Good question. I'm not aware of any major peaks other than what is probably "normal" for most big airports (the morning rush of business travelers, for example).

There are a couple of "waves" of international departures: the European directs (CDG, AMS, the first LHR flight) all seem to leave around 4pm, FRA and the later LHR flight depart around 6 or 7pm, while the South American departures are much later in the evening (~9pm or later). The European flights tend to leave out of Terminal E; there may be a corresponding spike in security there a few hours beforehand (say, 2pm and 4pm). I generally prefer the later LHR flight, but haven't noticed anything specific. The one time I took the earlier LHR departure, the President's Club at E was packed out until Paris and Amsterdam got on their way; after that it was much calmer.

Pre check is supposed to roll out tomorrow. I'd be curious to read how it goes.

I would also love to hear a report from anyone who gets to use it.
