Although I agree that BF is the way to go across the Pacific, sometimes that is not practical/economical/feasible/etc. Bulkhead rows tend to have more legroom, and you do not have the clod in front of you crashing into your lap. I personally recommend the center row aisle. Least likely place you will have someone sitting next to you, so that helps with the elbow room. If you can get that on a bulkhead, it should be ok

The other option is an emergency exit row aisle. Usually a lot of leg room.

Have a great trip!

dominick: There have been a number of threads on this topic. Do a search on something like "coach 777" to find some of them for more information.

I like row 32 best and row 16 second best. They're the bulkheads.

And snake, if you've slithered into row 16, you're behind the blue curtain, not in BizFirst.

dgolds, The question dominick asked was:
"just curious to what the best seats on a 777 in coach are."

Just my opinion.

I agree, 32 & 16 are the best because there is no one in front of you. With that said, the seats are a bit narrower than other coach seats due to the tray tables in the arms. Row 16 tends to be quieter than 32 because the restrooms are right in front of row 32. I'm not a huge guy (5' 10", 185) and I flew 16+ hours EWR to HKG in coach in those rows and it was NOT as bad as I had anticipated. Of course it cannot compare to BF service on a flight that long.

One factor to consider is your desire to sleep and your ability to sleep sitting up. If you do not want to sleep, or are fine sleeping straight up in a single seat, go for the bulkhead rows. If you want to sleep and are more comfortable with two or three seats, avoid the bulkhead. The tray tables confine you to one seat in the bulkhead rows. If not in the bulkhead rows, take paperbacks -- there is not enough room to read a fullsized book in the other rows, especially if the person in front lenas back. Politely ask the person in front of you to warn you before leaning back their seat so that you can get your legs adjusted before they bet banged. If you have and want to use an air adapter, the ports are located in rows 23 and forward.

I do not like the 3-3-3 configuration of CO 777, but if the flight is not too full (which has been the case on my trips to NRT) it is best to try and get a row to yourself. Due to bathroom configuration row 32 is horrible. Always people standing around waiting for the bathroom plus the constant suck-whoosh noise of the toilet flushing. Also, the aisle jogs around the bathroom so 32C is a real horror story. The WORST seat is the last row in the middle, in front of the toilets (if the numbering flowed it would be 31 DEF, but I think there is a break in the numbers at the toilets). People stand behind you, yack, and bump into your seat. The worst!

Check the load in coach; if it's anything like my NRT flight, there was NOBODY in coach, so try to get a center section and use the entire row to STRETCH OUT. Almost as good as BF! (But, sorry, no sundae).
