Boarding Pass Sequence

Forgive my ignorance for asking a question that might seem like a FF fundamental. I've been a CO Plat for 5 years running now and just found this site 2-3 days ago. How does the sequencing # on your boarding pass affect your likelihood of getting the last second UG? Is it best to check in on line 24 hrs prior? I usually check in at the airport.

Tks

The last minute "battlefield" upgrade is based on a couple of factors, with fare class and elite level being the top two. I still, however, try to check in as early as possible as it is still a factor (and less likely to have a mysterious seat assignment change):

makes a difference on the airport upgrades...

Yep, makes a difference on the last minute gate upgrades...(as per the info on CO's website)

Case in point, last week my colleague and I were on the same flight. Both platinum, both on "N" class fares. I checked in online 1st with sequence #1. He checked in a little later with sequence #4.

At airport, 1 seat was left and it was mine.

I guess having that confederate call on your colleague a minute before check-in time really paid off. I think a bunch of lightbulbs just turned on. ;)

Always check in as early as you can, even with the new rules regarding battlefield upgrades. It can only help you.

New Same Day Upgrade Policy

Does anyone know when the new upgrade policy took effect? I was told both March 1 and March 15.
