silver is best
Using a risk reward theorem . Silver is the most optimum for status on co. Baggage help ; they will compensate you if they lose your bag even just an overnight domestic. Free upgrades, disc on pres. club. And 50% bonus. As a member of all the levels I only mised out on 25% of upgrades when I was silver.

Silver is best?
Really? What about companion upgrades and your ability to get upgraded on trans-cons? In all seriousness - I am Platinum but might not fly that many revenue miles next year. I was thinking about a series of hard-core mileage runs to keep my Plat status - but flying 75,000 miles for the privilege may not be worth it. What do other FT'ers think? ------------------ "When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will forever long to return." Depends where you fly. If you fly usa
except hawaii and the rest of the americas except for bf cabins ; free upgrades. Also cont micronesia and copa flights without bf. and nw ,aw. But if you fly europe, asia, africa I reccomend becoming ua 1k, aa exec plat or ac super elite. I see that you are prem exec : you should do a baht run for cheap 1k status . 100 seg for 750 us. |

I was told by a OnePass rep that they did away with the Gold and Platinum companion upgrades as the Silvers were not getting them, so in order to be fair to their Silver Elites, they have done away with the companion upgrades. Is this not true?

The idea of optimizing something where the "risk" and "reward" cannot be measured (and is highly subjective) is quite intriguing.
On NW - silvers always have priority over platinum/gold companions. |
That's not true. Companion upgrades are alive and well.

Doc 2 Be-
Say it ain't so. The only reason the future Mrs. iwantanupgrade lets me fly is the companion upgrades. |
Not true...the BIG reason she lets you fly...is so that I can come over when you're gone!! hehehehe http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif)
Had to do it....perfect set-up. |

Is this not true?</font> This makes no sense whatsoever. What does that mean "be fair" to the Silvers? Companion upgrades are a perk of Golds and Platinums. Just like 125% bonus miles, 5-day EUA windows, no window for upgrades from Y fares, priority on u/g waitlists, etc. These are perks not earned by Silvers. Please, lets try to avoid spreading unsubstantiated rumors (I'm not saying this particular one was unsubstantiated, given the "source"; just a general comment). |

Rather then take away upgrades for GOld and Platinum companions, give them to Silver elite Companions also. Of course, Let them get in line after the Gold and Platinum companions.
There is little chance for these, since even as a Gold I have not been upgraded on the last three segments EWR-SAN/LAX! |
