Does CO comp Platinum?

I am a US Chairman's who is moving from RDU to LAX and wants a better airline for out west. Any CO people in LAX? How is the service out there? Upgrades clear routinely on transcons or not? Do you think they will comp me to Platinum?

CO has a decent amount of eastward flights to IAH, EWR and IAH and HNL westward. I have found their west coast service to be lacking if you want to go north/south. Upgrades to/from EWR on the transcons are extremely difficult to obtain due to equipment used (only one widebody per day and that will most likely end soon) and the number of people who pay for first. Yes, CO has been known to comp status - there is a thread somewhere in this forum that outlines some of the details.

One note to remember is that EWR can tend to be an easier commute in to the financial district or manhattan in general if you use airtrain.

Continental's First Class is wayyyyyyy better than US Airways' distasteful First Class, if we can even call it that these days. However, in terms of upgrades, even US Airways Gold Preferred members have better chances than Continental Platinum members, and yes CO does comp Platinum status, but again, on CO, upgrades are very hard to get. They do not clear routinely per se.

As it has been discussed on this board before, even CO Plat members use their miles to upgrade transcontinental flights fearing that they will miss their upgrade (and indeed many do).

I'm pretty sure they will comp you to Platinum, just be aware of what you are getting into.

Though a bit limited, AS can be used for west coast service.

Dont forget the step child hub of CLE. CO FC service is so far above US you'll think you are on SQ. IFE, Food, glass wear, comfortable seats....

CO is a wonderful airline - their first class is superior to the other legacy carriers. My only complaint is their uncomfortable coach seats. Love the upgrades on the transcons - but don't count on it.

Ditto on what Jaguar said. There are plenty of flights to/from LAX to IAH and EWR. You can also go out of ONT with 3 daily flights albeit one is early morning (1AM). For transcons you stand a better chance of an EUA by flying off hours and with a fare class of B or higher, but no guarantees.
