When is an elite not an elite?

Apparently when you are flying on a reward ticket with miles taken out of a non-elite account.

I am flying EWR-DFW tomorrow morning, with two friends, both non-elites. Since we didn't use my miles to get the tickets, my boarding pass does not reflect my elite status.

I know this is a small issue, but at EWR, the elite security lines are a major perk. Will the TSA at EWR allow us to use them if I show my elite card?

I think you can do 1 of 3 things:

Reissue your boarding pass @ airport either via (1) automatic machine or (2) at desk and the new boarding pass should have your status; or

(3) I believe you could show the TSA person your Elite card.

Show the ID checker your elite card. They really don't care that much.

I don't think the ID checkers are even TSA. I believe they are a private "security" company that just enforces the EliteAccess line.

DFW departs out of Terminal A. There's no Elite line at Terminal A.

That is correct- there is no CO elite line in Terminal A. If your elite on NW there is one, but they will not allow CO elites to use it (at least they told me no!).

The CO lines at Terminal A are usually quite short. I've never seen more than a five minute line.

Dallas, Atlanta, and Chicago leave out of Terminal A.

Anyone know why this is still the case? Beyond keeping gates, it seems kinda silly to me.

It prevents SWA from enterting EWR since at any given time there is prolly only like ONE open gate... Not enough to start the kind of service SWA would like too.

This is the exact reason Delta, KLM, AF, Virgin, NWA, et. al. are still in thier respective Terminals... Delta and NW could have EASILY moved over to Terminal C (like NWA moved in with CO in CLE), but then it would open up many gates! Delta/NWA/KLM take up like one satilite thing at Terminal B. Open up those gates - and it opens up compeition at EWR.

-Very similar to that ERJ parking situation down at IAH...
