My first EUA...
...just came through.
I'm so proud. ::snif:: (I've only been a lowly Silver for a couple of months) One question - the e-mail doesn't say what my new seat is. Is this normal or can I call and find out where I'm sitting (and change it if I want to)? |

Strange. Your EUA should look like this:
<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size="2"> Dear OnePass Elite Member, Continental Airlines is pleased to advise you that you have been upgraded to First Class on your upcoming flight due to your OnePass Elite Membership. Confirmation: XXXXXXX Flight Number: #### Date: MMM DD, YYYY Origination: XXX Destination: XXX Seat: 0#X* This e-mail notice does not replace the need to check-in for the flight. Recommended check-in time is 1 hour prior to departure for domestic flights. If you do not check in at least 20 minutes prior to departure your seat can be given away. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL. UNFORTUNATELY MAIL SENT TO THIS ADDRESS CANNOT BE ANSWERED. To make changes to your email address, access the Your Account area of the OnePass site (http://www.onepass.com/asp/youraccount.asp) or contact the OnePass Service Center as (713) 952-1630. For changes to your itinerary, contact your Travel Agent or Continental Reservations at 1-800-525-0280 (Domestic) or 1-800-231-0856 (International). Thank you for choosing Continental Airlines. </font> |
dbaker - I did get an e-mail which was exactly like that, except for a blank space after the word "seat:" - so that's why the question. Now I know I'm not the only one.

Maybe you should call CO reservations and ask for a seat assignment.
|
ClassicalGal, congrats on you first EUA upgrade, I'm sure the first of many. The norm seems to be that a seat assignment is stated in the e-mail notification. I would definitely call.
|
I'm a platinum and also got an EUA yesterday w/ no seat assignment...the first time this has happened to me in 40+ upgrades this year. There must be something wrong with their system
|
I too have received an email notification with the blank seat assignment. It generally means that you got the VERY LAST upgrade. This is the seat they hold just in case, for example, the pres of Continental needs to fly... at least that is what they told me. In any case, I would call, and they will tell you what your seat assignment is. More than likely it will be seat 1B. Let me know if I am correct.

I'm PLAT and received 2 EUA's recently for flights on Sunday 6/17...both had no seat assignments. I called and received my favorite 2B on both legs...so apparently it is not definitely 1B that you will receive as stated above. Also...there are 5 F seats left ...so it's not the very last upgrade. Good luck!!

My last three upgrades haven't had a seat assignment and I immediately called the elite line to make sure I had a seat. They then gave me a choice of seats,....which I like much better! I don't know if this is a temporary glitch but we'll see!

2 serious answers... and one, well, http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif...
1) I noticed that my EUA that are DIRECT (make a stop no plane change) never show the assigned seat. I believe they do this because people get on and off at the stop and they have to match the 1/2 a flight upgrades if you will. Example was IAH-ANC via SEA. Alot of FC upgrades between IAH-SEA. Then People got on and had those folks former seats. As I was a thru passanger this makes things complicted. Unlike a normal "connection" you don't get 2 emails. 2) I had EUA skipp me again 2 days in a row on a flight showing F9, for the first time in ablout 3 months... Yes, I think it's broken again. 3) If you just had your "FIRST"... and are a EUA virgin... Well Old cigar must be a tired worn out EUA whore http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif having gotten 137 EUA's... I can't even REMEMBER my first... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif |
I was upgraded on a EWR-LAS flight, some time earlier this week. I didn't get a seat assignment and I didn't even get an e-mail. I noticed it when checking my flight itinerary with EService I saw my flight status listed as F. So I called Onepass, and they got me a window seat http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif.

ClassicalGal-
Congrats and enjoy the bubbly. Years and years and years ago many FT-ers were arising at the stroke of midnight for the singular purpose to call their respective OP Elite line to request an upgrade (yes, it is true). Then only last year scary horror stories flew hot-n-heavy on FT all stating Gold and Silver Elites would never see the F/C cabin except when going to their temporary abodes in steerage. It is so nice to hear a kind word from the Silver Elite crowd. I hope you get many more emails from OP stating such cabin changes. I really do. MisterNice |
Thanks, MisterNice and everyone else.
I did call the Elite line this morning, and the agent said I had an upgrade but not a seat assignment - there were plenty of seats but only one aisle seat left (my preference) so I got that. She apologized for the glitch and didn't know why it happened. She did say that she had heard of this happening sometimes when it's the last upgrade seat, but that wasn't the case here as First Class (on a 738) still had 8 or 9 seats. Oh well...looking forward to EUA #2. |
On my LAS-IAH-DFW, I only got an EUA on the IAH-DFW leg, After I checked in for the LAS-IAH, I didn't even know that 4A was FC, had a real nice surprise when I got on the airplane http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
