Codeshare Upgrades
I am a CO platinum living in Houston. I am about to purchase a IAH-DTW-SEA-ANC-SEA-MSP-IAH ticket for only $300. This will be on a NW ticket; to/from SEA will be on NW; SEA-ANC-SEA segments will be on Alaska Air. Is there any reason to expect a platinum upgrade on the Alaska Air segments? Logically, I believe this should be the case, but I am actually dealing with 3 different entities here. Assuming that all parties want to do the right thing, there is a good chance for confusion, especially in a situation like this. Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks, pjc |
My understanding is that you'll have to use your 2001 Alaska Air upgrade certs (I got mine back in March as part of the Platinum Elite Gift letter).

Solarprobe, this is the Continental board (not Northwest). When you say you received Alaska upgrade certificates, I assume you mean they were received as part of your Northwest WorldPerks Platinum kit, not Continental OnePass.
Now to address the question posed by pjc, there is no reason to expect a complimentary platinum upgrade on the Alaska Air segments. If you really want an upgrade, you'll have to pay $$$. I would suggest visiting the following links: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum8/HTML/000065.html http://mileageplan.alaskaair.com/mp_paid.asp |
You're right TW-One, I forgot about the fact that the Alaska Airlines upgrade certs for NW WP members only.
BTW, I have a bunch of those, and would not mind transferring one to you, pjc. Just let me know if you are interested. sp |
