Actual Miles Needed for Elite Status?
 

Are there or have there ever been any bonuses that count towards Elite qualification? Everything I have read here and elsewhere leads me to believe you must earn those miles "the hard way".

BTW, read this board for the first time last week, registered for several promos, and bam 40k miles for trips I had already taken. Thanks for the tremendous resource.

Bonus miles for PAID premium class travel on CO, NW, NW code-share flights operated by KLM, Copa, Alaska, Hawaiian, and CO code-shares operated by other airlines all count toward elite status.

Please note it must be PAID travel. I know discount tix purchased directly from NW do count, but I don't know about other discount/consolidator premium class tix. Anyone else?

I found some cheap fares good for status mileage run out of Bay Area valid till 06/15.

Below are some example:
COOL offers SJC-IAH-CMH-IAH-SJC (Depart Sat/Return Sun, requires one night stay) at $209.50 on all CO metals(all 737s).
Good for 6108 status miles.

Airoutlet.com offers
SFO-DTW-CMH-DTW-SFO (Depart Sat/Return Sun, Red-eye flights, no stay required) at $170.00
on NW metal(all Airbus 320s, those good NW planes)
Good for 5100 status miles.
