Fare Codes A & D?
Seems to me ITN NEVER shows F available for CO flights. Does anyone know what the A & D are for? (1st class non-upgrade?)
This for ITN. looks like a wide open flight except no 1st (it's 6 days out). A9 D9 F0 Y9 H9 K9 B9 V7 Q7 T0 |
Ok.. after some more checking some F seats are available on some flights. (just not the ones I want!).
|
My understanding is that A is all the seats open in FC, D is the number of seats that could be upgraded using miles, and F is the number available for complementary upgrades. You also might notice the number of F seats increasing as you get closer to flight time - I believe CO holds fewer seats for paying customers only the closer you get to flight time...

A: F/C Seats available for purchase or Elite Upgrade from Y class.
D: F/C Seat on a Domestic Portion of an International Itinerary. F: Upgradeable F/C Seat. Either Elite Upgrade within the upgrade window or OnePass Upgrade Reward which is upgradeable at any time after purchase. |
But don't let the F0 fool you. Check the sold seat maps by making a res to that point. I have a flight this weekend that has F0, on an MD80, 14 F seats and only 3 sold. I called and was able to get my upgrade.

In addition, the A bucket is also available for EasyPass mileage awards.

thezipper, are you saying you got an upgrade on a discount fare when the flight showed F0?

Can someone tell me how to get this type of information from ITN? I registered and changed my profile to expert. Where do I go to find upgrade availability on my particular flight?
