How long does it take for CO to refund a ticket?
I had to call and cancel an itinenary (after the schedule changed so that it wouldn't work for me anymore). I was told that the full amount would be refunded to my credit card. Does anyone know how long that usually takes? It's been 1.5 weeks, and the itinenary shows as cancelled in when I check it online.

Too Long
Whatever it is, it's too long. I cancelled a fully-refundable $3k ticket last week and the credit has yet to be posted on my credit card. CO swears the credit went back the day I cancelled the ticket ...but Chase (CO Mastercard) has yet to see the credit. In the meantime, there's $3k of additional CO flights I'd love to book ...but can't until the credit returns. :td:

Chase is by far the most incompetent credit card co I've dealt with... they lose the payments sent through their own system!!!

6. Prompt Ticket Refunds
According to section 6 of Continental's Customer First Policy:
Continental Airlines will issue refunds for eligible tickets within seven days for credit card purchases and twenty days for cash purchases. |
Remember just because CO generates a refund transaction does not mean the CC company posts it that very moment. A CC company can take up to 30 days before it posts a credit transaction. This is because of the way CC transactions are handled. When you make a purchase it only generates an authorization. A few days later the actual transaction posts. The same is true with credits other then the fact an auth. is not required. I used to work in retail and had customers mad all the time that the bank hadn't posted the credit. We generated the transaction and sent it with the next batch of transactions, after that it's up to the bank.

Usually I see the credit within 3 days.
