Maximum mileage using CO 123 offer

Anyone have good suggestion for maximize international segment miles to get the "maximum" mileage when using the CO 123 offer? I used this offer for the past two years and gave me a good boost on the miles. However I was told last year only the international segament of the mileage will be double or tripled(three different agents told me the same thing)? Anyone else heard anything on this? Travel from SFO to Europe destination the 2500 from SFO-EWR did not count for the double or triple last year for me. Anyone has good suggestions from SFO to get maximum international miles (without break my bank too $500)? I found one route from SFO-IAH-NRT for 6650 internation miles but the flight is red eye plus 4 hour lay over in IAH. I probably will suffer this route out, but hope to get a easy one. Appreciated anyone have some input.
Thanks

Another good bet(cheap) might be to FCO from SFO. This figures to be about 6500 miles one way. I would also look at SFO-HKG via GUM, depending on the price. Can you do SFO-EWR-HKG when this route opens in March. By being on the east coast, I am able to do EWR-HNL-GUM HKG and return and thus get 11,000 miles trippled.

Thanks Vulcan for your suggestions. By the way if you know the offer is only good for international miles or total actual flight miles? I was told last year when I used the offer, the double and triple only applied to internation portion of the mileage not the actual total flight mileage. Anyone else heard about this? The offer was not clear at all. I received email from CO this year instead of post card. It still sounds like one should receive double or triple of total flight mileage. Anyone can confirm this?

As I dig for my CO timetable.....

I'd think direct 1-stop flights would qualify for the mileage bonus: CO 36 SFO-EWR-DUS should earn double miles SFO-DUS if you book it all under the same flight number.

And you fly across the pond on a 737. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif

That's the only CO operated direct flight SFO-Europe I can find through random searching on Travelocity.

I also found CO 64 LAX-EWR-LIS, FYI.

Good luck!! I'm trying to figure out something similar, too.

737 across the pond? Is that possible? I just ran an equipment check on COOL and CO-36 shows up as a DC-10.

In the past, I've done EWR-IAH-UIO as part of the GG ONE 123 bonus program and there has never been a question about the EWR-IAH being counted as tripple. It has always been posted to my account automatically. As long as its one ticket and the International segment follows on a domestic segment to get to it, it should count for tripple.

How often does CO have the 1-2-3 bonuses?

Viajero Joven Nov 27, 2000 2:31 pm

I got one about 2 years ago-- I want to say travel completed by Mar. 1999.

They may be sent out on a rotating basis to different members at different times-- kind of like the "fly 4/8 more segments than this quarter last year" bonuses.

They most certainly go out annually. The time frame for travel is always October 1 thru March 31, a slow travel period. The key is being elligible to receive the bonus mailing. CO has the option of changing elligibility. In the past, it used to be members(not necessarily elite-my daugher who has 2 flights on CO this year received it) who had flown between 4 and 8 international segments in some unspecified period. Remeber that this was the past. CO is sconstantly adjusting the requirements. I received it this year and would not have based on last year's requirments. Thank you Continental!!!
The big question is wether or not JAWS received it. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif The we will know that there has really been a change in CO marketing!
