Delta question...
 

I am flying Delta transcon next week. I have a real crappy seat both ways, as a skyteam elite member, am I entitled to one of the reserved "premium" seats? Is that something I do at the airport? The agent from Delts barely spoke english and didnt really understand my question, so I hung up in frustration...

I have been able to get premium seats when I called the 800 res line. Be prepared to wait as you do not have access to the priority reservation lines (someone correct me if I am wrong).

However if you put the CO number in the res, you will NOT be able to check in online. The premium seats really are not as nice a UA econ plus, but better than way in the back.

A few minutes making phone calls now could help relieve hours of pain in a bad Y seat!

Don't they bump you to the back of the line if you don't enter your skymiles number or enter a non-elite skymiles number?

Good luck getting a priority seat on DL as a Onepass customer. My son was flying as an unattended minor and they wouldn't move him out of a center seat in the middle of the plane. Use your miles and upgrade -- that's what we did.

I've never had any trouble getting the premium (that's a relative term) seats on DL when I called the general res line. Often I get put on hold while they "check" to see if they can do that, but there's never a problem. As for checkin online, I've also been able to do that with a onepass number (as long as I have a record locator number), though this hasn't always been the case. Just recently they finally made it to where that can be done.

UPDATE: After calling back 3x, I finally got an agent that was able to give me a "premium" seat. Got an exit row both flights.

What about DL elite getting priority seating on CO?

Yes, I have gotten the good seats on CO as a DL plat.

Not sure whether it was my SkyTeam Elite+ stauts or just that the flight was less than half filled, but I was able to pick elite seats on the CO website when purchsing tix online. They were labeled as elite and I didn't think I'd have access, but I clicked and got them.

I wish I could use CO miles to upgrade, but I can't. How long does it ususally take for the EQMs to be reflected in my account?

I believe they upload it once a week similar to NW, which I think is on Tuesdays.

My EQM posted 3 days after the flight for recent DL Friday and Monday flights. YMMV. (Incidentally, the DL 757 and 732 were showing their age...)

I have never had a problem getting an elite seat on DL or using OCLI with my Onepass # on the reservation.

Getting the call center in India can be really annoying, I usually hang up and dial again till I get somebody in the US.
