Matching elite status question
I am a NW Silver Elite who is gonna have about 41000 miles by the end of the year with 61 segments flown on NW/CO. If I had claimed my flying on CO this year (flying exactly the same flights that I did), I would have made Gold straight up with some to spare (I have 4 segments on HP that would put me comfortably over the top). If I write OnePass asking for a comp to Gold for next year based upon my 65 segments flown, are they likely to do that as opposed to just matching my Silver status?

If you ask your sister to kiss you, she either will do it, or will get grossed out by the suggestion.
In either case, all you still get is a worthless thing. |

Well, I just asked for my wife, a NW silver, for comp to CO. Within the last four weeks CO has a new policy not to comp NW elites...I asked several times. FYI.
However, prior to this I have found CO very accomodating, in that they will listen carefullly to your situation. NW is more absolutist with respect to rules. So all is not lost. I also believe that you may be able to switch over the miles or segments, if it's not too many. I've been told that when posted in error, a NW miles credit can be changed to a CO. I really wish you well with this. |
I don't think CO gains anything by comping a NW elte and vice versa. You already have elite benefits on the partner airline due to the alliance.
The idea behind comping is aqquire a customer you don't currently have. This is the case if the elite is a Delta or United elire. It isnt the case if its a NW elite. |
Why doesn't your wife just start getting OP credit for her CO and NW flights, starting Jan. 1. She may need to be comped at some point in the future. It's so easy to switch between CO and NW painlessly as it is.

but she loses out on the 50 percent mileage bonus when using one pass number since she's not CO elites. And award travel availability is greater on CO when a person is CO elite vs. NW elite, etc...
