Has CO mainline capacity really increased? I have mostly noticed RJs replacing mainline in places like IND, STL, OKC, and even AUS. Maybe I should dig up my OAG time table from '99 and compare it to what CO has out there today. Also, aren't there still tons and tons of mothballed planes in the AZ and CA desert? Or have all the good ones been picked over and restored to operation already? |

Or have all the good ones been picked over and restored to operation already? As for the aircraft in the desert, most of the ones there have far lower fuel efficiency than most of CO's current fleet. Sure, CO could fly a bunch of MD-80s and 727s, but the routes on which they'd add service wouldn't generate enough revenue to make the fuel costs worthwhile... -JMP |

753
This is all good new I'm sure we can all agree... Frankly I don't mind the 757-300, but when they were delivered they had 24 FC seats, now they have 6... I'd settle for like 14/18...
HELLO?!?! anyone at Continental listening! -Vincent |
actually the 753 have 12 seats (3 rows of 4)
in F. and yes, it still sucks. |
I heard a rumor(I know that rumors are not the most accurate) that second tier Intl routes will goto 752 from 762s to accomadate changes throughout the Intl system.
I heard that ZRH/GVA were two of the routes that CO was changing to 752s. If this is the case, I am going to be taking my J fares elsewhere. I hate flying the 752 Intl and will fly SWISS ex-JFK if I have to avoid them. Dan |

Boeing has also agreed to finance the 757 conversion costs, such as repainting the exteriors and reconfiguring the interiors to CO’s standards. |
The Houston Chronicle weighed in on this today. They question CO purchasing new planes while cutting employee salary and benifits.

Can't wait to fly on the 7E7 - but boy do I dread the additional 757 transcons.

If we were talking IAH-AMS that would be a problem. I think they have the right idea. Is it possible to do transcons from IAH with a 757? That wouldn't be fun.... Also, I was looking at the Boeing site the other day and the range of 73G's is good enough for western europe. I wouldn't mind that for, say, direct EWR-ABZ for example. Yes, I prefer 777 but I like avoiding AMS,LGW,CDG |

Probably not...those flights exist, in part, to reposition the aircraft at the hubs. Seems unlikely that they'll go away. |
