IAB Renamed to Terminal D

I was walking through IAH on my connection today and noticed that the signs for IAB have been changed to Terminal D.

Not terribly exciting news, but if your boarding pass says your gate is a "D" gate, that means IAB. Now you know.

Right. It's a Y2K thing. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Also, they're now working on Terminal E. What's Terminal E, you may ask? Well, imagine a mirror of Terminal D (née IAB) coming off of the wing of C where gate 48 is. That's pretty close to what it'll look like. There will also be a skybridge of sorts connecting D and E, between the east garage of C and the parking lot for D (hopefully that will become a parking garage). There will be a monorail stop in the middle of the skybridge.

The tram between B & C terminals is nice compared to the old busses that you had to take along with the long walk. I also noticed that there is an underground tram between terminals that you can pick up at the Marriott.

Ahh, yes. That "tram" in the basement. It was considered to be state of the art in the 60s, but it is mighty slow. And it's outside of security (which, of course, had no meaning in the 60s). In fact, those two reasons are precisely why the monorail was built. The buses were a temporary solution because CO desperately needed more gates.

i like the location of the Marriott - it is very accessible from all terminals via the tram. however, i agree it is slow.

Slow? Yes, and even slower if it is not working, which is the case sometimes in the late evening or early morning.
