Anyone see this on the CO Message board on Yahoo
"For you CO insiders...through 9/9/99 I have 122 segments on CO this year and appx 93,000 miles. That sounds like Platinum Plus to me (should be a new category)...do you know any frequent traveler within OnePass that has achieved more segments AND miles than this? I asked the OnePass people but got no response. Fortunately, I don't have to stay one place very long each trip and can return home to family quickly."

I don't know who it is, but I don't think its particularly impressive in terms of being anywhere near the top. I know plenty of people that can beat his numbers. As for me, I have a bit more than half his flight miles and I don't even consider myself a serious road warrior.

Let's see, 122 segs, that's an average of 61 flights and 762 miles per segment. Since this is the 36th week of this year, looks like this woman/man/rocketperson flies on 3.4 segments per week. That's really not an overwhelming amount. Not even 2 RT's/week.
But, what's got to be tough is that it's EVERY week. Last week I flew 5 segments, not all CO, and was away from home only 2 nights. Most of the time I fly 2 segments per week and am up to 81 on CO so far this year, with around 45,000 miles. I feel like I've been in the air too much, but whomever this person is, their source of air is thin and pressurized. I do not even tip my hat to someone that flies that much. P.S. Did y'all see the post from i_fly_standby on the above subject. It basically says that "inside CO" info says that the 122 segs are in the top 10 or 20 CO fliers. |
I think you're going on the assumption (61 trips) that all his trips are single segmented. What's far more likely is that the majority (if not all) of his CO trips involve one or more connections, so he's earning 4-6 segments per roundtrip. If that's the case, then he may not even be flying CO every week.
Here's an example of what could be a typical trip for him: Corpus Christi-Burlington, VT. I think that would be about 4800 OnePass miles. If he flies that route just every other week, he's got the miles he claims, and pretty close to the segments (6 segments per RT). Or any other routing that involves a double connection, especially if he's flying internationally. Chances are his home airport is not a hub. So this guy could very possibly not be a major road warrior and still acquire the miles/segments he boasts. |
