Everything running well...

It's easy to complain about things, so in contrast to the usual tenor of the board, I wanted to acknowledge the smooth and efficient functioning of CO in general and the EUA in particular. Seven of seven u/g on CO the last two weeks: all five-day EUA's except one CLE-IAH that was a three day EUA; on-time flights; fast luggage delivery; good food up front and good service.

This really is great value. Of course it helps my frame of mind that I can accrue and redeem on WP and not the dreaded None-Pass. But the arrangement is working very well for me at the moment; as long as I keep hitting the R bucket even the EQM's work for me.

I know, I know, this kind of comment invites problems next time. But, good job CO. As long as CO fares continue to be reasonable, which they usually are at least from PHX, then there's no reason to fly the LCC's.

I think CO has gotten over many of its original computer glitches. Reading the NW board, it seems that NW is having the same implementation issues that CO had two years ago and has now overcome (e.g., holding back seats, dumping them later, but not running EUA, so Silvers can get them if they check in before Plats).

While your EUA success has been apparently better than mine latley, I can attribute my missed EUAs and missed upgrades to full F cabins, in some cases well ahead of time, as opposed to technical glitches.

Channa, you may well be right. But I have an additional explanation for EUA success that sharpens the picture. I book carefully on CO: although I often book in relatively low fare classes, I always book well ahead: four to eight months is normal since I have a job that allows for advance planning. Careful selection of machines and routings is another given: no 753's if at all possible; if in transit through FL(L), select 752s then 739s and so on. No EWR-IAH Mon morning/Fri eve flights. I haven't tried the 772 from IAH-EWR but I have one scheduled for next Feb. With an L fare class on this route, the chances aren't good for EUA. We'll see if that works. All the same, unlike most NW folks it seems, I have a better u/g percentage on CO this year than I do on the red tails. Now that I think about it, it's quite surprisingly good. I must check my account record but I believe it's over 98% (only one Y segment when the machine was equipped with F and at least 50 CO segments this year, maybe more).

Anyway, my acknowledgment to CO is for more than on-target EUA functionality.

As a CO Gold, I've flown this route for 2 rt's this year, on Sats and Fri's and I've gotten upgraded except one return segment this year, 1 at the gate, and the rest were EUA, either 1 day or 3hour mark. Surprisingly, the one I didn't get upped on was a B fare, but I got upgraded on an I fare. Most of the plane's pax are elite, and 1st boarding is a hoard walk as well because of the large BF section :D But "elite access" is worse, since they've never done it by level, just "elite access" boarding after F.

If you're plat, you'll have better luck, but don't expect anything 5 days out, maybe 3 days out, and if you're on a "low" fare, 1 day or even 3 hour.

Glad to report that my EUAs for this weekend's trip up to PDX came through - both at the 5 day mark even! ^

It's good to hear people HAPPY! These day people tend to complain and never praise when things just "go as usual" like they should. Continental in general has worked hard to deliver a fabulous (generally) travel experience.

:D

Now if only we can figure out how to get sundaes on all flights.. J/K :p

I am doing EWR-IAH-DEN-EWR starting tomorrow and returning home on Friday. Got IAH-DEN at the 5 day mark, which was nice. No such luck on EWR-IAH (its a 735, so not holding out hope) or DEN-EWR (which is a 733, so prob not gonna happen either)

Live from the ewr c74 pres club... The 772 back on ewr-iah is the best news I have heard today.

more good news:

Two 5 day EUAs for the J.Edward! FC all the way to Seattle this weekend. :D
Thanks CO ^

Nope

I got an upgrade at check-in the other day. That's a sign that things are stalling and not running well. They should have been assigned via an EUA run.

Good thing it was me, not some Silver who happened to check in right at that time to snag one of the three (3) F seats for upgrade.

Auntie Emm! Uncle Henry! Toto! Toto! It's a twister! It's a twister!

Maybe our helpful moderators would be kind enough to 'accuratize' the title?

Yes. I said 'accuratize'. Ah-ha! See – I just said it again! You try to generate upwards momentum via leveraging your incremental synergetic buzzword bong. Phhf, I can't believe they have school that teaches management nor can I believe that I am sitting in it right now. Makes about as much sense as sailboat fuel and solar powered flashlights.

I got an upgrade yesterday during OLCI for a flight this morning. I am silver, and was sequence 8 travelling on a W fare. FC was not at all full, as a flight attendant dead-legging was up front. I was a little surprised by the upgrade, but I assumed that I must be the only elite on the flight (how likely is that?).

I had not checked my intinerary the day prior, so who knows if I had actually gotten the upgrade at the 1 day mark.

Channa, I assume you checked your intinerary at the 5-day mark?

Yes, it was a 6-seater 735 (Boeing 737-500LK Larry Kellner Special Edition) that was A3 at the 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1-day marks. I wasn't online at the 24-hour mark, but checked in around 18 hours out. My gf (also Plat) and I were both upgraded, and the cabin went to A1. We were Seq. 5-6.

So there was most definitely a danger of losing it, and we just happened to luck out by checking in at the right time.

I wish they would eliminate this upgrade at checkin thing.
