What type of tickets are you holding? Paid? Awards?

I think this got quoted out of context - I didn't ask anything about milage. That said, they're Z tickets. I'm the one who commented that they're not likely to take BF volunteers, but as always can't hurt to try!

In extreme cases, they can be extremely generous. These cases are rare.

I was on an overbooked BF flight

I was actually on a flight where they asked for volunteers to give up their BF seat. I did (it was paid for by my company) and they put me in a bulkhead row in the main cabin with no one else in the row. They also gave me a certificate for some amount of money (which I can't recall right now).

I tried to vol with my BF seat once but was told that BF was not oversold it was the coach cabin that was oversold so they would not allow me to do this, as the comp is different and could not offer it because BF was not oversold.
