I was trying to book a co/vs codeshare flight jfk-lhr for my grandmother today and the agent told me I could just miles for one of those flts for a Y ticket?Is this true or just an uninformed agent?

The agent is correct, you can book co flights operated by vs using co ff miles. A great (and relatively cheap) way to sample vs's upper class suites if you have the miles.

I'm FINALLY using the rest of my worthless CO miles I've had for the past 3 years on a VS upper class ticket next month... considering I could never use them on a CO flight unless it was a SLEAZYPASS award, I'm happy to spend them on a ticket CO will have to pay VS for :D
