swapping seats with companion in BF

If you are travelling in BF on a reward ticket and companion is in coach on paid ticket and you want to swap seats, will you have any problems swapping seats when you board the plane? I know people do it all the time in domestic FC, but don't know if things are stricter in BF
Thanks

If you mean switch seats for the entire flight, start to finish, I doubt it would be a problem.

If you mean switch seats after the meal and let your friend in coach rest in your big BF seat, you'll probably have a problem.

I've seen it happen both ways. Some FA's will not allow it at all, others..if you approach them at the start and explain the situation, will sometimes let you switch seats.

Switching Seats

I did try this once when my co-worker was flying in coach and I was flying BF(There was only one seat left in the BF cabin 5 hours before the flight).

I asked the FA and she actually was very friendly about it, she suggested that we do it quietly and with little fuss as it is technically against the rules but, she had no problem with it.

My advice, ask first and it should be no problem.

Yes, advise the F/A first. They do tend to carry the pax. list with them and refer to the B/F passingers by name (at least during the boarding process on Intl. flights). If your friend is not the same gender as you, this could cause some confusion.

Thanks all, bit more info or explanation:

I could only get B/F (standard) rewards on the return leg so I put my kids on the reward tickets ( boys under 10)

I did this because I still wanted to get eqm's for my ticket ( I'm the only elite family member)

I thought I could just swap with him, only thing is, they will know I'm not 6 years old!

The big worry now is if they don't let us swap, the kids won't want to sit without their mum or dad!

I offered to put my wife up front but she refused, she's only 5'2" and says she's quite comfortable in the back (strange woman!!)

Maybe what we ought to do is swap wifes. Mrs. Pickles is also 5'2" (nickname: bun), and she only flies first class. Preferably CX F.

I don't know about CO, but I've been on other airlines where the parents were sitting up front and their kids in back, and the kids were coming up all the time -- in fact, the four of them were playing cards for a couple of hours in the middle of the flight (overnight flight). The kids themselves were very well behaved and as a group they were very quiet, so I had no issue with it.
