Upgrading to First On CO
 

I have the opportunity to upgrade on Continental Airlines from coach to First Class. I just called them and the woman said 7,500 miles. Unfortunately, she said that there are plenty of seats for revenue passengers, but no upgradeable seats at this time. When should I follow up and see if there are any seats?

Secondly, I will be upgrading on flight 90 out of LAX, do they have a lounge for First Class passengers?

Depending on when your flight is I'd check everyday or so. The more frequently you check the better your chances. If your flight is 6 months away I'd check less often. Be sure to check before the elite upgrade windows open which can sometimes be 5-6 days before the flight.

CO offers use of the Presidents Club for Hawaii and International/Int Connections to BF/FC customers. I believe 90 is to EWR and no access to Presidents Club unless you are connecting to an International Destination.

Yea, my flight is Aug 12 so I have 3 1/2 months (96 days) to go. This is the second time I will be upgrading to first. Last time I called one day and the person said they had nothing and then again in like 3 or 4 days and there was a seat available how often should I call?

Might be faster and easier to check online for the saver rewards. If you find saver rewards you'll find upgrade rewards. August is a busy time to and from Hawaii so it might be harder to get but I think you'll be fine unless they have a FC sale similar to the Europe routes. Just keep at it. I've had them clear two days before you'll have more success under 31 days out. Good Luck!

7,500 miles for an upgrade?? Isn't the only 7,500 mile upgade to Hawaii from full-fare(c) coach?

Domestic upgrades are 15k or 5k from full coach -- whick should be an auto-upgrade with the new "We Love Y class Pax" policy.


Flt 90 is LAX-EWR-TLV. If you going all the way to Tel Aviv, AND your upfront, come on in to the PClub and ask if they have any Milanos :D

I just thought of something. What fare codes can I upgrade on? Can I upgrade on any fare, like V,I,Y. I got a price of $422.60 from EWR to SJD via IAH and then LAX back to EWR, if it's discount, can I still upgrade?

As it turns out, I will NOT be flying first class. The fare is a discount and I can't upgrade. The only flight I COULD do this is 1118 but that requires 20k. I only have about 14K. Oh well, next trip.

FYI elites are able to upgrade on domestic flights from any fare category
