Did CO fares increase?

Was looking for the flight in end of April return in May (5 days) EWR-SFO and it's pricing me >700$ (V/V fare) while I had a flight in Feb (same week day departure/return) EWR-SFO (V/V) fare, it was ~400$.
So now the difference is ~40%
Was there a price hike?

Like most fare questions, it comes down to supply and demand. I would guess there is much more demand to go to SFO at the end of April than the middle of Feb.

Add in the fact that there can be several different types of V fares.

I'll let someone with an ExpertFlyer subscription answer that one.

Out of EWR there is not a lot of competition but from JFK there is, you may want to try this as you can get tickets as cheep as 218 RT

I am finding the same applying for EWR-LAX any time in July, just shy of 700 RT. That run is 299-350 normally. At most I have paid was 399......cost of fuel is affecting fares.
