Why the differense in price regarding currency convertion ??

Hi..

I’m currently looking for Continental flights from OSL (Gardermoen) to EWR (New York) in the period 17/05/12 to 23/05/12.

When I search at Continental.com I get the total price in Norwegian kroner of kr 13,868 NOK, which is about $ 2 422 after converting from Norwegian kroner to US dollar.

But when I search the same flight, same date and the same amount of passengers using US dollars I get the total price of $ 1 910. And then when I convert the amount in US dollar to Norwegian kroner I get the price of NOK 10 946,-.

My question is why is it that I get a difference on the total cost for 3 tickets of $ 510 (kr 2 921 NOK) when I convert back and forth ?

Can someone please help me out here ?

Might be not just the currency conversion, but where the ticket is issued. If CO.com is changing the place of issue when you change currencies, that could be material.

Some fares, taxes, and fees only apply to certain places of issues. It may take some time to research the specifics of the fares if this is the case, but I've seen it before where a certain surcharge or tax only applies to tickets issued in X country or region.
