How Long for Miles to be Refunded?

I booked a one way F for 25k. In the meantime a suitable alternative in Y opened up. CO changed the reservation and I am expecting 12.5k miles credited back to the account. About how long do I wait before worrying that something has gone wrong? I made the adjustment last Thursday.

I've been told in the past that it can take up to a week. Never had to wait that long, though.

did you sign out and then sign back in to your account?

If that doesn't do the trick, then call OPSC and they should fix it immediately.

Called back on Friday and they said it was queued up to be credited. Haven't seen anything yet.

The agent I talked to last Thursday mentioned that OnePass service center is currently extremely slow for crediting miles back to OP account. It might take 7-10 business days for them to process the request.

Yet another reason CO system is the best system. On PMUA MP it is automatic and instant.

How do you cancel a UA award reservation online?

I tried to do it and it said I had to call reservations.

Maybe I am misunderstanding your post.

thanks.

While I'm a "UA boy" this is only partially true. It is automatic only if the ticket is "clean", i.e. There were no changes made to it since booking. IME, every time I had a change it had to be sent to customer relations for "investigation". I was always able to get it sorted out while still on the phone by being transferred to the CR desk but it had to be done manually.

One week. Nothing yet.

Been waiting 12 days now for my 175K miles back into my account on two cancelled award tickets.

While it is true you do have to call, and last night I cancel one of my award ticket that had routing change and class change multiple times (from I>O). New routing open up and only bookable on CO side, called CO had the routing on hold, called 1K cancelled the ticket, redeposit miles immidiately to my UA account, transfer it to my CO account and call CO back to ticket it, the entire process took 15 min. ^ Not bad at all.

Indeed you have to call but UA refunds the miles instantly.

Once I waited 10 days for CO to refund my miles. This is absurd. :td::td:

Is this really an issue? If you need to use those miles for a new booking they will credit them immediately over the phone. I've done this on multiple occasions without even a slight issue.

Think of it as more an intellectual exercise from a PMUA flyer. Curious to see how long it would take the OPSC to handle this without intervention, but I called today as no miles had deposited. As it turns out, I'm glad I did.

I was told since the connection >4 hours, the computer priced the new itinerary as 12.5k + 12.5k miles. If I had waited, the miles would never have redeposited. The agent said since there were no flights within the 4 hour window, they would credit half the miles back. This is problematic for two reasons. 1 - If I had an option for a connection within the 4 hour window and didn't take it, I would be charged 25k miles, and 2 - No previous agent caught this error. Also interesting, while this was cleared up, OPSC said I still have to wait 12-24 hours for the miles to show in my account. Let the next wait begin. Boy am I glad I didn't need the miles right away!

It's a bit sad that PMCO folks are trained to call in, and apparently "on multiple occasions" when this function was automatic and instant with Apollo.
