UA confirmed (er, noted) that Copa upgrades still book into Z, not R class?

Does anyone have a successful M-up story on Copa that they'd like to share? I see a great fare GIG-PTY-JFK, but only on the Copa site. Do I need to book it on United to snag the M-up?

Thanks. If only I could figure out how nudge .bomb to display Copa flights. It does so so intermittently.

You will have to call UA and they'll have to transfer you to the partner desk and find someone that knows how to do this. It may work automatically if you book on UA's site - I don't have experience with that. Also, there's no good way to tell if there's available for the upgrade to clear at booking. Mine didn't, but I ended up getting the upgrade within my UDU window.
I realize I didn't fully understand--should I book through UA reservations or should I book through copaair.com and then call UA reservations? |

Third - To get waitlisted for a Regional Upgrade on a Copa flight, ask the elite desk / integration desk to "Cat the reservation". This is an old process they used to use with KLM...but it basically creates a reservation number in the CO system which is tied to the Copa reservation. That way you have visibility on upgrade status through CO.com - and it is easier for the elite desk to help you.
