de-AMEXing is working...
Well, the strategy of dumping AMEX for club access is working. AMEX promises future statement credits for a limited # of paid entries, but credit-on-future-statements doesn't quite overcome our corporate policy restricting purchase of domestic or personal access in the first place. Just coughed up $375 for a year, but had to do it. I'll be eating and drinking a lot more.

please elaborate.

the statement credits are issued on the same statement as the charge is put trough, in effect offsetting each other, like a bill then a credit. But who knows how weird your accounting department is on those types of things. it'd look like a charge then an OOPS wrong card, credit off - sorry accouting.:D
You DO have to enroll at the platinum amex website and designate the airline of choice before expecting the credits. I assume you are talking about the $200 (I may be wrong it may be more)credit they give towards misc.. airline fees. I got a $150 credit against a change fee actually...so mines almost used. it offsets meals, DirecTV, late fees etc. assume it will offset admission fees for single days. ALso note they give you priority Pass, but it no longer accepted by UA and CO on Oct. 1, but does work with other lounges. |
It's pretty simple. I charge an access to PC in September. Statement shows up in early Octoer, at which time I have to expense w/ receipts. Company does not allow use of card to access club, denies reimbursement. Even though I will be re-imbursement, I cannotflaunt corporate card travel rules. well, I can, but eventually they stop me.

Sorry - But, you've still lost me. As I understand it, your company won't be reimbursing you for club access. But, you will be receiving credit for the charge anyway, so there's nothing to seek or accept reimbursement for.

Yes, it is a problem for some folks. This isn't new, however. It has been a long time coming and pretty well communicated. Not sure why it is a surprise. |
