What is fare class PN ?

I have a flight next month from EWR to ORD on CO. I was able to M-up after booking into FC.

I checked on the reservation today, and it's showing a PN fare code in coach, which is bizarre since P doesn't seem to be a CO fare code, and the seating chart shows me in FC. Plus, every other fare code on these flights shows full availability, making it look like I'm the only one on the plane.

Any idea what this is? Here's the screen shot from my reservation:

odd. Never seen it. I don't think it's a UA code either. I'd call the elite line to get clarification.

I did, and apparently as of today, fare code PN replaces ZE (for M and B-ups). There is also a new fare code JN, which replaces FN.

Any one else get that same response?

Good to know. I know cross posting is verbotten, but perhaps someone could post this in the consolidated forum as well.

I have a ton of emails from AMEX this morning stating that I was "upgraded" from my "Business" seats (I book Y/B/M's) to "coach" "PN". :td:

Looking at my flights for next week this is what they say also-COACH-PN.:td::mad:

Another C:rolleyes: screwup???

Official word from Prez Plat line

Ok-so this goes from BAD to W:rolleyes:RSE!

(Does C:rolleyes: not CHECK website rollouts before implementation???)

1-tickets now show as COACH :td:

2-seats can NOT be changed online :td: (this may be fixed shortly-per PP)

3-seats SHOULD still be in F, but some tickets have issues!!! :td::td::td: My EWR-LAX was NOOOOOOOOOOOOT in F!!!!!!!:td::td::td::mad::confused:

So-better check your tickets!!!

Something WAS wacky with CO availability last night. Was running KVS searches on a few saved itins - EVERYTHING was zeroed out in R, along with F/C codes. Y9 but nothing else in coach. So apparently they're screwing around with codes and inventory and such right now.

Not surprised about a P code replacing Z, as P of course stands for Premier, and everything and everyone is Premier now ;)

I just noticed the same change for an upgrade based on a Y fare. It must have just happened last night. I called and the rep still shows me in first. One question, on the reservation it shows 0% elite qualifying miles. Anyone know what the deal with that is?

Welcome to FT! Don't worry about the 0%. It's a glitch.. you will earn EQM's as normal plus the 50% bonus for your Y fare.

Mods-since this DOES also pertain to UA elites-can you please move it to the consolidated thread????

Just checked and my record is now showing First (PN), instead of Coach (PN) - which it was showing before. No change in the FC seating from before.

On a semi-related note, it looks like EUAs are now clearing in to RN instead of R.

I believe "JN" is the new COS for "FE"' Y-Ups. All of my reservations which said FE previously are now listed as JN (Both First and International Business). They weren't reward tickets, which is what I believe FN was.

At the moment, both sets (PN/ZE & JN/FN) are showing, but the 'old' classes are all zeroed-out:

Too many new fare codes! Ahhh! I've seen some documentation making reference to PN inventory, which was described as expanded upgrade inventory at certain windows for top tier elites. However, I'm not sure how accurate this documentation is, so take it with a grain of salt.
