23kgs

Why is only 23 kg on most flights from Europe to USA in Economy class? If you fly to Asia etc, you can easily except allowance of 32kg-46kgs.

I was wondering if there was any reason why only 23kg is allowed in USA?

Thanks :).

The allowances vary by market and the Europe allowances are comparable (and in many cases better) than other carriers. The specific 23kg limitation is because that's 50lbs, the standard limit and unit of measurement in the US on Continental.

It depends on where you are flying, status, and the airline. Some US airlines allow more than 23 kg (usually 32 kg or 70 lbs), but you have to pay additional, or just for it's upper level frequent flyers.
