Is There a Limit to SDC?
A medical emergency in the family is keeping me in NY for a while...I had a flight scheduled for 9 AM this morning to FLL and changed it to an evening flight for free via the SDC policy. Is there a limit to how many times I can do this? Could I do this every few hours until, say, Saturday or Sunday? I don't want to be in a position where I have no ticket to get home. (if needed, I will buy a one-way reward for Saturday or something)

Availability of seats at the right fare classes is the only reason why it wouldn't work in perpetuity. |
There is n:eek: limit I know of. As long as there is open space you can SDC as many times as you wish. I do know one person who pushed a ticket out quite a few days (one at a time) like this. After seeing all the changes when being asked to push the ticket to the next day, one agent finally asked him what day he really wanted to travel and then changed the ticket to that day.

I made 3 changes to two separate tickets last week with no questions asked.

One time I used SDC online on a midpoint hub one time too many and even though the system allowed me to do it the agent wouldn't let me board and considered the ticket as fully used and I had to buy a one way to complete the trip. It probably had to do with stopover rules for the fare paid.

I would have called CO immediately. -RM |
I just did this three times, pushing the flight out by two days. It's a direct flight so I don't think there are any stopover issues here.
Thursday night departure to Friday afternoon to Friday evening to Saturday morning. The risk of course is no fare bucket availability or flights selling out. (my preferred flight is sold out, so I had to settle for an earlier one) I was lucky because this particular flight is M class, so more options available. |
