LH redemption Question
 
Trying to book a first class ticket on LH using miles and have been watching Co.com for 5 months and LH has not opened up first class seats on the A380 yet.

8 seats and only 6 are taken (based on LH.com paid ticket search)

Anyone know if historically LH releases the remaining first class seats for award as I get closer to my travel date?

I am 3 weeks out right now.

Platinum CO (if that even matters).

I believe the A380 F upgrades are limited to LH M&M members only and are blocked for *G partners. I've read of a few lucky individuals who got it due to a plane switch, but don't believe you can book it outright.

To paraphrase (and butcher) a line from the movie 'Star Wars'": "Move Along, these First Class award seats are not available to you". Only top tier members (HON and Sen) of LH's M+M can get F awards on the A380.

However standby upgrades are possible for members of other FFPs if they are willing to take the risk of ending up in C. ;)

Does this mean I redeem a First class award as a standby (low chance of happening).

Would I get the miles back if it does not come through?
