Automatic Seat Change?
Just looked at my reservation in August for SEA-IAH-IND. The SEA-IAH is the overnight segment and I had 10C booked. However, my seat in 10C no longer existed and became a "-" so I changed it to 27A.. What's the reason to this? I understand I'm not an elite on CO but why was I given the seat in the first place? :(
What are my upgrade chances for this overnight segment? I don't expect too many people flying it... well I hope not... |

Maybe they needed the seat to give to somebody who was paying the extra money to move up to it or for one of their elites? It's not unusual for a sweep to happen with people who have reservations in seats they should not be in.
Keep an eye on the upgrade standby list on the flight as it gets closer to see how long the stand by list gets. I would not assume that flight would have very many empty seats. |
Did you make the booking through CO.com? It could be that if you made the booking through a 3rd party that they somehow got you an elite seat and if an equipment swap came through the system it noticed you weren't supposed to be there and unseated you.

All hell is breaking loose with my flights from CAK-ORD which used to be 2x2 explus CRJs but are now Continental ExpressJet 1x2 ERJs.
It's pretty much random what seat you'll end up in when the "schedule change" is loaded--I've been checking on a daily basis to try to stay seated next to my wife travelling with a baby on a certain day. |
