AMEX PC access in SF?

From CO's PC locations page - "Terminal 1, next to ticket counter **NOTE** Effective May 10, the Clubroom will be closing for relocation. Eligible customers are invited to visit the Red Carpet Club in Terminal 3."

I optimistically read this as 'customers eligible to access PC clubs' (w/ AMEX Plat for example) ..."are invited to..." Will I be eligible only to visit the RCC reception desk or will I get farther? Trying to delay purchase of membership for domestic access as long as possible.

You will not get in to the RCC with just the AmEx AFAIK.

That said, free wifi in the terminal and a decent food court in the domestic area; I wouldn't sweat it.

You can access the RCC with your Priority Pass card (which you should have received as an AmEx plat card holder) until September 30th.

The domestic RCC in SFO has a sign at the entry indicating that access for Amex plats is not allowed.

Did not receive one. Appears I can get request one gratis, but probably not in time for my SFO stopover May 28. Looks like WiFi in food court - will just have to put a few more rum minis in the liquids baggie for my Coke...

I'm sure you meant "AMEX Platinum Card is not a valid means of entry", instead "access not allowed for Amex plats". I don't think Conited will go that far...

Yep, requested mine, too.

Note that Priority Pass access goes away sometime in the Fall, just like Amex will for CO clubs.

Note also that on a United flight, one gets club access with a business class seat. I thought I was sol earlier this week, but I upgraded my UA p.s. flight, and got to use the club too.

If you run out of rum minis there's a few restaurants with full bars just post security (Gordon Biersch g74, Yankee Peir g72) and just up from the food court (Buena Vista Cafe g82). I think there's only beer in the the food court near by G81/opposite the domestic RCC. For the price of access on the Priority Pass you'll probably get a least 3 drinks at a bar.

If you get bored there's always the land connection to international terminal G. Also there may be stuff in the 60s by the old AA gates but I haven't been there post CO move.

Actually this is ONLY true of the PS service and International service ... on the off chance you have a biz seat SFO to ORD or IAD (there are some) you would NOT get automatic access to RCC

SFO has free wifi throughout, not just in the RCC. Ironically, before the RCC went to free Wi-Fi, you could get the free wi-fi signal in the terminal, but you had to pay/use the card inside the RCC.

Free wi-fi in the terminal is a reasonably new development...and it's TERRIBLE. If I can hold a connection on any device (laptop, iPhone, iPad) for more than 2 minutes, I consider myself lucky. Last Sunday morning, I ended up having to tether to my iPhone for a reliable signal (in SF - consider that for a moment).

Mine came. Access to international SFO RCC till Oct 1. No access to domestic SFO RCC, according to their site (unless this is an error of omission and all RCC's participate).

Here's the thing -- it shouldn't be any worse than the RCC or "tmobile" paid signal. The free service is a white-label service run by T-Mobile on behalf of SFO. I'd be surprised if T-Mobile let their service deteriorate to that point, especially when they have paid customers on that network.

(The APs are exactly the same; they're simply broadcasting multiple SSIDs.)

Before the SFO PClub closed a few weeks ago, the staff were warning as many of their AmEx regulars as possible that they can't get into the RCC with the AmEx Plat. They said that almost half of the SFO PClub customers were entering on an AmEx Plat!

The Priority Pass Select does work for the SFO Intl RCC, I didn't try it and the terminal 3 RCC since they weren't listed in the gudei, or app.
