Question about BF waitlist on a B-fare

Just booked EWR-LHR in late June and put myself on the mileage BF waitlist CO29 (777) for the return. Last time I booked this same itin I was able to confirm the BF seat at booking. I know it's peak season, but it appears that there are a ton of seats for sale. Anyone have any past experience clearing the list during peak season? More than happy to fly Y on the outbound since I'm on the 9am and was able to book 7C on the 752.

I hope you didn't buy the B fare specifically to avoid the co-pay if R wasn't available at the time of booking?

In my experience, the mileage upgrade is tough on the 752 in either direction because there are so few seats (and that was as a Platinum). I'm not sure of the exact number, but I'm probably <20% on mileage upgrades to Europe on a 752. On the 777/764....almost 100% on BF marketed flights.

No- I booked B because it was only $200 more than standard "H" and less than the $400 upgrade fee. I won't burn miles on the outbound, only the return.

Sorry to hear that about BF on 752s. i'm going to AMS via FRA from IAH and there are quite a few open seats on the 772. Return AMS-EWR is on a 752, there were 6 seats open up front when I booked but only one now. The 764 to IAH was full so thought I'd try my luck via EWR. Mileage upgrade on B ticket, Platinum.

I assume you're wait listing? If you are, be careful...I'm not sure how it works from AMS, but when you fly business/first from LHR there is an extra tax tacked onto your ticket that you pay along with the copayment when you wait list. If you don't clear, CO refunds the copay automatically but not the taxes. I emailed them the last time this happened and they never got back to me. I had to resort to disputing the charge on my Amex.

Yep, been there, done that. As far as I know, UK is the only one that adds the 'luxury tax'. Last trip to DUB or AMS it was not added.
