EWR-IAH Upgrades

Just curious if the EWR-IAH on a 777 is eligable for upgrades? If so, in general how difficult is it to get upgraded as a Plt.

Any domestic flight is eligible as long as there is a first class section. However, upgraded between these hubs can be very difficult. But definitely not impossible depending on the time and dates that you fly. Good luck.

Any domestic flight? Incorrect. IAH-HNL and EWR-HNL are domestic flights but EUA is not available.

EUAs (elite upgrades) are not dependent on the metal but instead on how the flight is marketed. If the front cabin is marketed as "BusinessFirst" then it will not be upgrade eligible. If it is "International Business" or "First" then it is upgrade eligible.

In this case, it's marketed as "First" between EWR and IAH.

Your odds really depend on what day of the week. If it's middle of the week, you shouldn't have a problem.

Thursday late afternoon flights would be tough to get an upgrade.

I only have experience with PHL-IAH market. I never get upgraded on the thursday afternoon flights...so I dont pick those anymore.

Upgrade? On Continental? You must be new here.

The sheer number of seats on the 772 makes a difference though. Yes a lot of elites will specifically pick this flight because there are so many, but as a Plat the chances would be pretty good.

I've never flown in coach on a domestic 772 flight in years as a gold or plat. Probably 40 segments come to mind, mostly iah/ewr but some iah/lax back in the day.

I do not know CO that much, and just wonder that if there is a dinner service in F on this route? How about LGA-IAH departing around the same time on a 738?

CO flight status gives a reasonable level of detail - here's a 4:30pm EWR-IAH flight today:

Yes. I agree. I didnt think of the 772 aircraft before i posted.

So, that does increase the chance for EUA quite a bit.
